Farm and rehabilitation center in Yaroslavl

190 miles (300 km) Northwards from Moscow.
Established in 2000 to serve in three functions:

1. Rehabilitation center for young drug addicts and street children’s parents.
40 people on rehabilitation at the moment

2. Farm and food production for MP’s projects. Farming area app. 50 hectares (110 acres): potatoes, grain, vegatables etc.

3. Camp and vacation place for children

We purchased the farm in late 1999 near to the city of Yaroslavl and river Volga. In three years the farm was prepared and equipped to full functional readiness. The farm already had animal shelters, we have built there a large dormitory, bath facility and a potato storages.

Food production for the needs of our work and for sale

The farm produces meat, milk and eggs for the shelter home, street patrol and rehabilitation center, and also for sale. There are 100 pigs, the same amount of sheep, 30 cows and calves, many rabbits, hen and geese. The farm is specialized on potatoes.

We have had very good harvests, up to 240 tons of potatoes and 100 tons of carrots. Also other vegetables are grown on the farm.

The farming operations were set up by specialists from Finland. For three summers Joonas Ahtiainen from Finland stayed on the farm, working and teaching the locals. After that the farm has been run by our local workers.

Vacation place for shelter home children

The farm also serves as a countryside place where shelter home and street children can spend their summer and other holidays.

The children and youth from the Moscow home have spent there several summers, and in 2003 also the Krasnoyarsk home children far from Siberia joined them.

Drug rehabilitation

We also use the farm as a rehabilitation center where young drug addicts and street children's parents can stay for 12 month treatment periods. Those who need can stay longer.

During this time the rehabilitants work on the farm. Many lonely mothers from the street have stayed on the farm with their children.
