New Project in Russia:
Night Shelter for St. Petersburg Street Children

October 2003

“We don’t want to go back to the street”

This is what the kids said at the end of our summer camp in St. Petersburg. We couldn’t answer them anything. On the camp, 18 teenagers from the streets accepted Jesus, but we could not offer them any alternative to the street in that city!

These painful words were the last factor that urged us to launch a new large project: We are going to open in St. Petersburg a shelter that functions on the same Christian principles as the other homes we are running.

MP’s street patrol in St. Peters–burg operates since 1997. We also run a day center for street children in a small two-room facility. The need for more space as well as an over–night shelter has been growing year by year.
For a long time we have been looking for a place to rent, but a suitable one cannot be found or the rental is too high.

This is why we have deciced to step forward and to raise funds to purchase a shelter facility. Our goal is to open the shelter in the first part of 2004. We are encouraged by Ps. 68:6: “God gives the desolate a home to dwell in.” Join us to make this happen!
