Where is she today?

Lena is now engaged and works as
a part-time worker in the shelter home.

Lena was among the first girls in our shelter home in Moscow. She ended up in the streets with her alcoholic parents when she was small, and experienced everything that the street life could be before she was ten.

Lena with the other street children in the Moscow parks in 1997.

Lena has become a normal and skilled young woman in spite of her difficult background. She has taken care of the youngest ones in the shelter and helped in the housekeeping for years now.

Lena was able to start school after several years' delay, but now the comprehensive school is completed. She is a part-time employee in our shelter and is also attending culinary arts school to get a formal certification for her skills. There are other things in Lena's life as well: in the Yaroslavl farm she met her fiancé. They are getting married next summer.

Lena's parents have been in Yaroslavl for rehabilitation and work for some time now.

In observing Lena's housekeeping skills, one wouldn't believe that she lived in the streets until age 10.
