KRASNOYARSK

In Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, we began to feed street children living in the beginning of 2000.

Krasnoyarsk, situated on river Yenisey, is one of the coldest cities in the world. Our street patrol rescues children from exceptionally difficult conditions, as in winter the cold can reach even -50 centigrades. The homeless children try to hide and seek shelter in basements.

We run in Krasnoyarsk a shelter home that has been operating in two small apartments. 16-19 children have lived in the home at one time. In early 2006, a house was purchased for the home which enables the relocation of the functions to one place.

The home has been able to rescue many children from the street and restore them to a normal life. Also some parents of street children have been rehabilitated.

The work is led by Lyuba Eponchincheva (on the picture with home children).
